If you’ve been to Pangea before, you’ve probably noticed a very eye-catching dessert in our display case: our layered Gelato Cakes. We put a lot of love and time into this unique dessert and it will bring your idea of frozen cake to a whole new level!

We start the process by mixing the gelato the night before and then we turn it all the next day. When the gelato is ready, we make it into a cake with two to three layers of different gelato flavors. We finish the cake with a chocolate sponge cake and top with a chocolate hazelnut sauce and a variety of toppings.

When you cut into a Gelato Cake, you can see every layer of goodness. It is a very visually appealing dessert and you can immediately tell what flavor it is just by seeing those layers. Some of our most popular flavors are Mint Oreo Chocolate, Peanut Butter Cup, and Strawberry Cheesecake. Our more classic flavors such as the Vanilla Bean with chocolate and Salted Caramel Café are also very popular.

The first time we ever made a Gelato Cake was in our test kitchen before we had officially opened. My first idea was to use silicone molds to create small gelato bites. From there, I decided to go larger because I really enjoyed the idea of serving gelato in a unique way.

It took a lot of testing to perfect the process, but the end product was totally worth it.

One awesome part about our Gelato Cakes is that they are totally customizable, so you can choose whatever flavors you like and we can make that into a cake. We also have a variety of sizes to choose from. We have our standard nine-inch rounds and you can also order an individual five-inch cake which is a perfect sized gift for someone. We can even make special Gelato Cake orders for events in our event room!
