With ingredients sourced from Italy, the Hot Don is an Italian pie with a twist. So what makes it so HOT? While the Calabrian Chiles do add a nice kick, it’s actually the sambal that really adds the heat. Sambal is a garlic chili paste that we mix in with the tomatoes. From there we add in the sausage, mozzarella, and chiles. Then we top it off with spicy salami from Charlito’s Cocina, based in New York.

Some people like hot stuff, man, you know, we all need a little kick once in a while. The Hot Don is more of a filling with a little kick to it. It’s also a great way to show off these ingredients that we don’t typically put on a pie.

People just really love the Hot Don. Customers will often ask us to remove the chiles and make it less hot, but overall it’s definitely a favorite. Everyone keeps coming back for more, so I’d say it’s a hit.

The Hot Don is definitely in my top three favorite pies, the other two would have to be the Marinara and the Margherita with Buffalo Mozzarella. If you have never had a Neapolitan pie and you’re looking to give one a try, I would recommend the Margherita. The Pistachio is also a good choice, just because it’s delicious.

Do you think your tastebuds can handle the Hot Don? Visit us to give it a try! Make sure you have a cup of water ready to cool down the heat!
